Matthew Underwood - Quoter 2

1. Pg.24, "In the pearl he saw Juana and Coyotito and himself standing and kneeling at the high altar, and they were being married now that they could pay". This means that Kino thinks that he can sell the pearl and become very wealthy and get married to his wife that he coudnt do before because he didn't have enough money.

2. Pg.26, "Juana caught her breath sharply" Juana caught her breath sharply because it might be possible for her son Coyotito to go to school.

3. Pg.28, "Kino opened his hand and held it out, and the preist gasped a little at its size and beuty of the pearl". This implies that the pearl is very big and could be sold at a high price and bring fortune to Kinos family.

4. Pg.30, "Kino stood in the door, filling it, and hatred raged and flamed in back of his eyes, and fear to, for the hundreds of years of subjation were cut deep in him". Kino is mad because the Doctor, despises his kind but he is helping his baby heal from the scorpion sting.

5. Pg.35, "He knew the pearl would be buried in the house, and he thought Kino might look toward the place it was buried." This means that the Doctor might actually be thinking about stealing the pearl for himself so he can go sell it and get wealthy.
