Connections- Sabrina El-Abry 9-2

"Kino had found the great Pearl of the World."
This reminds me of a movie I watched a while back about a guy named Steve. Steve was a runner and he came in first place in a 5k race against about 200 other people. Most of the people running the race were his friends and they became very jealous of him as soon as they found out he got first. Just like in the story, Kino's neighbours envied him when they found out that he found the great pearl. In my experience, it's the worst feeling in the world to have your friends be jealous instead of happy for your achievements. During that time, you begin to stop trusting people and you start isolating yourself from the rest of the world. I think what people need to realize is that jealousy is not the answer. I also believe that all the jealous people in The Pearl are just building hatred towards one another.

  1. tbh I don't think that kinos neighbours envied him. I think they were happy that kino had found the pearl because it meant a greater life for him. the rest is really good though.
